I picked this up for a ridiculous low price ($120) and I am really digging it.. it's a Peavey VTM60 head from the early 80's... it's ugly as sin but it sounds really good bill-lima.com/vtmtest.mp3

I'm really happy with Peavey gear, I always looked down on it because of the name etc.. but man they have a lot of great gear at ridiculously low price.. I got the Ultra Plus for $350 and that amp is sick, probably one of the best amps I have, and now this one.. it sounds almost like a JCM800 to me and it was so cheap.. now admittedly I got a great deal on it since they normally sell for $300 used, but still...

This is common. I read in an interview with Hartley Peavey and he admits it bothers him that people always look down on or dismiss his stuff as second rate. even tho for years he has made in usa, he has innovated and his gear has been proven workhorses. I really like my Ultra Plus too. I still have stock tubes after about 7 years. The JSX is a smoker too and I like the 6505s. Great score!!

the problem with the early peavey gear is that they're butt ugly ... this one is no exception I'm thinking of selling the ultra and getting a JSX
