So I bought into the www.Webstring.com's argument about how basically most strings out in the market are the same, and have been accordingly just buying from them for the past few years. But, I've been thinking about strings from a company called Elixir. I was wondering if it was worth it. Your thoughts?

I used Elixir but they are $$$. I basically use Daddario now. The Elxir's were nice though.

I've got elixir's on my acoustics....love 'em.
I've never tried the electrics.
I bought an assload of D'addario's when MF had some ridiculous deals on 'em.
I prefer EBs though.

I use D'addario .10s. I guess I started due to the colored ends. Never have probs so I stick with them.
My Taylor came with Elixers. I thought they were kinda dead/muffled sounding and the coating started peeling off before too long. So, I have never been in a hurry to pay the higher price for them after that..

All I care about is if they're fresh and they're a 10-46 set. I buy whatever is on sale, at the volume/gain I play, they all sound the same and I rarely break any strings so..

I don't like or use any coated strings - dull toned right outta the package, as expected ... and the coating/covering does "fuzz" and that can't be good for a fresh, sparkling tone. For acoustics, I use 11's or 12's round wound phosphor bronze. For electrics, I've pretty much switched to D'Addario Chromes 10-48 (flatwound stainless steel) - though they're 10's, they have a higher A440 tension than round wound nickel 10's, and they feel very much like 11-49 round wound nickels (which had always been my staple electric string). It's all subjective, it's all good, do what ya want.
