I bought a $99 Squier Bullet strat yesterday.. VERY nice guitar for the price, I was wanting a new strat and this one was perfect, it looks and sounds great and plays very well too. I erased the Squier logo off the headstock and I plan to change the tuners to Gotoh locking Klusons in the future (not sure if they'd fit though but I think so). I MAY change the pickups but frankly, no urgency there because the stock pickups sound surprisingly great. here's a picture: and I also made a short clip with it: www.bill-lima.com/stratdemo.mp3

It just dawned on me after listening to the last few clips of your playing you've been sharing with us. You're in love! Really pretty stuff you're playing.
What you said before is pretty true - you sound like you regardless of the guitar. I think I've heard enough of your playing that if I heard it in another context, meaning, outside of the UGF, I'd probably recognize your playing or at least say, "Hey, that sounds like Bill."
Great stuff, man! And always looking forward to your music. Thanks. And thanks to Cherryburst for keeping this alive.

thanks man for all the positive and encouraging stuff you always say about my clips, that's really cool and very meaningful to me. And absolutely, BIG thanks toRay for finding a way to keep UGF alive, I was really sad about the fact it was going to close down (although I understood the reason hwy).

I've had 3 Bullet Strats for myself and 2 for customers. You are aware of the truss rod problem with ALL Bullet Strats? The truss nut heads are stripped - they should be internally hex shaped but they're all rounded off and no hex key will work. A few seem to budge a bit with the use of a flat blade screwdriver. I've got a spare Bullet neck that I'm experimenting with, to see if there's some viable remedy to the problem. Here's some after mods (the 'burst has been sold, the white is my main Strat and the horrid pink is a customer's) ...

Somebody pointed me to a thread at Fender forum, and it had a post about it written by... well, you! Mine works fine though, I always check the truss rod whenever I am buying a cheap or used guitar. I tried 4 units and 3 of them were stripped but this one was fine. Hey I have a question, do you know if it's possibl;e to install the Goth kluson-style locking tuners on theis guitar without any major mods? Are the holes size and spacing compatible with Klusons? Thanks Rob!!

Here's some after mods (the 'burst has been sold, the white is my main Strat and the horrid pink is a customer's) ... Man, that white one looks killer! I always thought Fender's truss rod solution was a pain...having to put the neck off and on to adjust it and all. How do these work? The '70s type was pretty good IMO. I think Ernie Ball's are my favorite. I love Gibson guitars (as you know), but messing with their truss rod makes my sphincter spaz out.... And if a traditional Fender needs adjusting, I think I'd just have to sell it.

And if a traditional Fender needs adjusting, I think I'd just have to sell it. LOL!! I feel that same way. On these squiers though, the adjustments is done at the headstock so it's pretty easy.

amazing clip bro! left me sitting here in a stupor.. I agree with the above assessment.. sounds like its coming from a happy place.. Amazing how good gear is for the buck these days.. Also amazing what a truly skilled player can play on an entry level instrument...
I need to sell all my gear now....
Congrats on the new toy..
