First, how do they get away with it? They have a model that's practically identical to an Explorer.

I don't know how they're getting away with it. I guess they're paying a license fee? not sure...
Hamers are quality guitars, in general the build quality is superior to the Gibson USA and actually closer to the Gibson CS quality. Great fretwork, tonewood selection etc... They're expensive too and don't hold value too well, so if you looking for one, by all means buy used.

Hamers are awesome!! Id LOVE to have a Hamer standard with trans black quilt top! But they are pricey. I didnt know they didnt hold resale value.. Ive always seen them pretty steep even used. Ive always been told that they dont get in trouble with Gibson because they are a small custom shop and dont produce enough volume to pose a threat. Dunno if thats the full dope, but that makes sense..
