I have no experience with Aldrich neck pickup so I cant comment but the AIIpro is a great neck pickup indeed

Oh YEAH!!! That is amazing!!! doesnt go as well with the AII as the other pup I had, but what clarity! The other pup I had in the paul sounded great! Warm and smooth, so I almost hated to change it, but this one sings and covers the whole spectrum. Wired in with an orange drop and was late to work cuz I couldnt stop playing. About how high do you have yours set G?? Mine sounded good just above the ring, but I went on and raised it up a bit and have more oomph. Its got so much clarity, its hard to adjust, since I usually look for the breakup point..

Mine is almost flat with the ring, I have all my pickups set really low for a smooth attack, less tension from magnet pull and better intonation. As long as my amp has a "Treble" and a "Gain" knob, I can always compensate the loss of gain and high end.

Ok.. Ill just experiment some more. I have to say, it sounded great when I first put it in and I had it level with the ring. Kinda airy, very chunky and responsive. And, it sounds amazing if I dial up the midrange on my amp too. Plus, I thought it sounded this good when I first tried it, I realized later that this was on my little Hughes and Kettner practice amp.... I cant wait to hear it through my tube amp!! Thanks for the recommendation G! Ill tell you what tho.......... I still dig the sound I WAS getting with the Genesis Sounds Mr Browney in the guitar.. Wish I had another paul to put that in.. Doh!

Ok...Something absolutely hilarious.. My favorite pickup for the last few months is a Seymour Duncan Custom 8.. I took a custom and put an Alnico 8 magnet in it. This has the power of a Custom (ceramic mag) but gives it more warmth.. I love that pickup so much, I have one in my Steve salas (set neck superstrat with 24.75 scale and mahog/maple top) and in my Kramer Focus 6000. I played the salas and the LP with the Doug Aldrich back to back today, and they sound nearly identical... They respond similar to every nuance and sound so much alike.. Hysterical!!!!
But, I have to say, I LOVE THEM!!! My LP sounded great before, but seemed to be missing something.. Now it sounds addictive.
