Hey- just wondered how everyone was doing and what they are up to. I'll go first. I have gone on a health kick exercising regularly and eating better. My girlfriend and I are back together and the future looks good. Musically I am playing with another guitar player and a female singer doing some acoustic stuff. How's everyone else? ~roger

I've been okay, really busy with my band, lots of shows and stuff. Other than that, everything is stil the same, same job, no steady girlfriend but dating a lot etc... it's been fun

actually, my back sent me on a bit of a health kick as well. I was prescribed physical therapy, and when it was over....I had to do something (it helped so much) so me and the woman joined a health club. I'm feeling stronger every day. Musically, I'm floundering however. Glad you're doing well!

Health-wise, just putting on the usual weight which I shed a bit of during the summer. Music-wise, well, as before, I'm in a rut. Haven't been able to catch that wave that thrusts me forward to more playing and development. If it weren't for the few students whom play with great enthusiasm, I don't even think I would even touch a guitar. I did find a pretty cool drummer in the local classifieds and jammed with him once. But between raising kids and being burnt out from work all the time, I can't seem to find the time to jam with him again.
Talking about jams, I'm startin' to find that either I suck or jams just don't work for me. I think it's the lack of structure and commitment that makes it seem a waste of time sometimes. Next time, I'm going to contact the drummer and request that we choose a specific cover song and run with it till we get it right.
But for now, I'm just trying to survive the rest of this semester. Come summer, I should have more time with my kiddos and some time for music.
Gear-wise, boy, am I still a dreamer. Still dreaming of that Firebird. I think I can afford the ones that go up for sale in classifieds, but I just can't justify it. If I were regularly gigging, and I knew that I needed that Firebird sound, then it would be a no-brainer. But knowing that once I get it, I'm only going to have only so much time to play it, and even have some fear of my kids damaging it, I just can't . . .
And another thing. There's sump'n about guitars that are in mint/excellent condition. I just can't get around playing 'em for fear of putting a scratch on 'em. Aren't there any player-grade Les Paul Standards anymore? It seems like they're all pristine and demand top dollar. I hardly come across $1K Les Pauls anymore. They're all in mint condition and start at around $1500. WTH? And don't get me started on those "other" Pauls that go for $3K and up.
Whatever happened to players'-grade Gibsons? They're all collectibles now . . .
What guitars are you guys mainly playing now?
At home, it's the non-reverse Firebird with Burstbuckers. This guitar is either in my hands being played or in the case out of reach from my kids. When playing out, it's the Reverend Rocco because it's light, versatile, and it's well broken in and I don't have to worry about its condition.
