i've had a pair of these tk tele trems ever since they were introduced - the strat version is (imho) the best non-locking trem around, i've installed a buncha them. anyhoo, finally got around to installing the tele version. unlike the strat version, which is typically a bridge swap and requires little routing, the tele version requires lots of routing, since we're starting with a full chunk of wood. this requires finding and marking the centerline on the tele body top, along with marking the full 25.5" scale length where the bridge will sit (this is the saddle line or mark). i also marked the centerline on the plexi jig, then double stick taped the jig on the top. using 2 top bearing carbide router bits (short length to start, longer length to finish), i cut out the trem block hole completely through the body. that hole becomes the router guide for a 3/4" undercut in the trem block hole, using a 1" top bearing router bit. this widens the interior of the trem block cavity and allows it a large latitude of movement. installed ... the 5lb 2oz tele (p-wood body, tmo-fat neck, gfs alnico bridge pup) ...
