i'm really getting into the paulownia "princess wood" bods from gfs - ultra light (2#), solid hardwood, very resonant (think: a cross between pine & alder), stupid cheap. this wood is gonna be real popular with luthiers for all types of fretted instruments (yep, for acoustics, too). here's the second one i threw together (this one's all mine!) ... tro-w neck, staggered vintage tuners, v-bone nut, fender scn neck pup, lawrence l290 bridge pup, wilkenson compensated bridge, cts 20k pots - no load tone, oak 4 way, electrosocket w/switchcraft jack ... oh yeah, 5lbs 1oz total weight.     |

Yeah, me too... I bought a $39.95 Body that is super light, and swapped out a Heavy BaseBall Bat Ash...   The Heavy body was 'Dead'... The guitar just plain sucked... Now it's got sustain and sounds great... I'm sold on the Paulawina Bodies... Yeah, I've got the dang Pro-Reverb cranking up to snuff... Way too loud for the House... I need to build a Champ, or 5E3... Hey Rob, whats the Ultimate Champ for DIY?... I don't wanna be Moddin' the thing...  |
